The Registered Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program is a 12 month program that prepares students to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) test through the National Healthcareer Association. It has been approved by the State of Washington as an equivalent to an MA-C program at a community or technical college. The program:

  • Is a registered apprenticeship program through the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries
  • Is governed by an Apprenticeship Committee of 50% employer and 50% MA representatives
  • Is administered through the Washington Association of Community & Migrant Health Centers
  • Trains students in the specific skills required to achieve the MA-Certified credential, as outlined in RCW Chapter 18.360 and WAC 246-827
  • Curriculum is approved by the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges

 

OCTOBER 2018 MA APPRENTICESHIP CLASS IS NOW OPEN! INTENT TO APPLY DEADLINE: August 3, 2018

APPRENTICE APPLICATION DEADLINE: August 31, 2018

  • Submit full application packets and supplemental information for all new apprentices.  Instructions are below:
  • Complete and sign the purchase agreement and return to WACMHC with a check for tuition. 
    • Tuition is $3750 per apprentice *in WA State
    • The purchase agreement serves as an invoice for your accounting department.
    • Payment must be received before the kick-off date.

KICK-OFF DATES: September 27, 2018 (Western WA) September 28, 2018 (Eastern WA)

Save the date for a full day cohort kick-off event.  Apprentice attendance is mandatory; coaches and supervisors are strongly encouraged to attend.  Locations TBD.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Apprentice application (signed by apprentice)
  2. Apprentice agreement (signed by apprentice AND employer)
  3. Proof of completion of a DOH-approved 7-hr HIV/AIDS training OR proof of active DOH registration as an MA-R or CNA
  4. A current CPR card

 

Email the following additional information:

  1. The hourly wage of each apprentice at the time the program begins
  2. The work site of each apprentice
  3. The name and email of each apprentice’s designated coach
  4. The name and email of each apprentice’s supervisor
