The goals of the Washington Coalition on Medicaid Outreach are:
1. “Networking”
- Networking with other groups
- Sharing strategies with each other
- Trading stories about what is working and what is not working
- Providing support to each other
- Creating a broader based coalition, through meetings in eastern and western Washington
2. “Dealing with system issues”
- Sharing strategies for negotiation system issues with DSHS, CSO and HRSA
- Developing strategies for dealing with system barriers
- Sharing strategies for “getting in the door” with school systems and local CSO’s
- More training regarding HRSA, DSHS, and Healthy Options policies, charges, unique situations, assignments, etc.
- Clarification of public charge and immigration issues
3. “Coordinating work and creating a consistent message within the state”
- Simplify and streamline applications
- Simplify and streamline processes
- Simplify and streamline the information being given out in the community, agencies, outreach workers, and families
- Make sure the message and information is consistent within the state
- Make sure goals and data collection are consistent within the state
- Develop common evaluation and tracking methods
