Washington Association of Community and Migrant Health Centers has been the lead agency for tobacco prevention and control in the Latino population in Washington State since 2003.
We are building a network of Latino agencies and partners working on tobacco prevention through our network partners, community based organizations and community partners. The Latino community in Washington State has within it a diverse population. We believe that members of local Latino communities understand best their own needs and unique situations.
WACMHC works with local community based organizations and Community Health Centers to provide education, training, and support so they can reach out to their local communities.
Our current program priorities include:
1. Build and sustain a Tobacco Prevention and Control Network
2. Seek policy change and compliance
3. Build resistance to tobacco industry marketing and promotion
4. Integration of Tobacco Prevention and Control with existing chronic disease programs
