WACMHC plays an active role at the state and federal levels in advocating for policies and laws that benefit community health centers (CHCs) and their patients. State level priorities include protecting Community Health Service grants, the enactment of Cover All Kids, and protecting the Washington Basic Health Plan. At the federal level, we support efforts to enhance primary care workforce; increase operational grants from the Health Resource Services Administration (HRSA) within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS); and improve Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Medicaid funding and services. We work to protect and expand access to care and provide options for the uninsured and underserved. We closely coordinate all public policy and advocacy activities with the Community Health Network of Washington (CHNW).
