Community Development is a collective action that brings together various sectors of a community to understand a need, identify common goals, and mobilizing resources within a community to achieve those goals.
The Washington Association of Community & Migrant Health Centers (WACMHC) is committed to assisting communities in the development or expansion of new primary care access points, or clinics, to ensure that all Washingtonians have access to primary health care, regardless of geographic locations, nationality or income level.
Community development technical assistance is provided by WACMHC and/or its partners in assisting health center growth in areas that include:
- needs assessments;
- strategic planning;
- foster and support coalitions;
- board development;
- funding opportunities;
- outreach to special populations (e.g, homeless, migrant, veterans, farm workers); and
- attaining and/or maintaining federal designations.
