Job Description: Help us increase the years of healthy life in the people & communities we serve! Unity Care NW is searching for a Child & Family Counselor to join our dynamic, growing team in Bellingham, WA, to assist us in building a new child & family services program in our behavioral health department that includes a board-certified child/adolescent psychiatrist.

This new, full-time, benefited position will provide outpatient, comprehensive behavioral health counseling and social services including culturally appropriate intakes and assessments, individual counseling, case management, crisis stabilization, risk assessment, treatment planning, and possible facilitation of treatment &/or educational groups. This position will also perform the following duties:
• provide referrals and coordination with medication providers, primary care physicians, school systems, law enforcement and other community agencies;
• work with patients and their families to identify health goals and to achieve behavior change leading to a healthier lifestyle and the reduced likelihood of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs);
• collaborate with patients and their families creating resiliency/recovery goals that identify mental health needs, physical health concerns, substance use issues and evaluate the level of risk for harm to self or others; and
• support daily activities such as educational pursuits and employment opportunities to achieve desired outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy plus two years’ direct clinical experience working with children and families, preferably in a community health setting. Ideal candidates will also possess knowledge of &/or experience with the North Sound Behavioral Health Organization (NSBHO). Candidates that are independently licensed are preferred, but candidates with similar counseling experience and credentials are welcome to apply.
