Oral Health
Dec 12, 2017 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA) is proud to promote this webinar for the integration of oral health care into prenatal health care and diabetic management. Olde Towne Medical Center (OTMC) in Williamsburg, Virginia is a safety net clinic that serves uninsured and under-insured populations. OTMC identified lack of oral health care as a problem for prenatal patients and diabetic patients. As a result, OTMC developed an integration of oral health into primary care program for these populations. This session will discuss the journey of the OTMC integration program. Dr. William Mann, Executive Medical Director of OTMC will share the strategies to implement an oral health integration project, staff training, staff and provider buy-in, barriers to patient acceptance, and results from the OTMC experience. One (1.0) Continuing Dental Education (CDE) credit is available.

Learning Objectives: Understand the rationale for incorporating oral health into primary care (prenatal care and diabetic management), understand that buy-in by all clinical staff is a necessity, both at the provider and support staff level, and appreciate that constant monitoring and alterations of processes are necessary to improve patient acceptance.
